Federal Student Aid (or FAFSA) is an application that must be filled out annually by current and anticipating university students (both undergraduate and graduate) and sometimes by the parents in the U.S. to determine their eligibility for federal student financial aid. In addition, most colleges and universities abroad use FAFSA to award scholarships.
The great news is there are 300+ universities abroad that accept FAFSA. So you apply for them just like you would at your current college or a future university in the U.S. The site to apply for FAFSA is www.fafsa.ed.gov.
What you are awarded is based on your family contribution.
But even if your Household Income seems high, you should still apply! Many factors are taken into account, including the tuition of the universities you apply to, housing, books, living expenses, etc. Now, if your family income is over $85,000, you may not be approved for Pell Grants. But Pell Grants are not distributed to those that enroll directly with a university abroad anyways.
